Blog Entry: City officials joined Key West Ink tattoo artist John Paul Bertrand on Thursday as he attempted to break the Guinness world record for most tattoos given in 24 hours -- 415. But after all was said and done, Bertrand fell short of the goal, applying "only" 356 tattoos. He was 59 short. "I'm tired," he said Friday afternoon. "I just want to go home and see my kids. I'm going to retire." Bertrand wasn't upset he didn't set a new record. "I met some really cool locals," he said. "I'll do it again," maybe for New Years or Fantasy Fest next year. "I think we had too many tattoos to choose from. It's hard to focus" when applying four different designs. Before Bertrand started Thursday, Mayor Morgan McPherson declared, "Live and in living color at the foot of Duval Street, we'll set the record: More tattoos in 24 hours than any other city."
